Climate Care with Ocean Free

We believe in positive experiences for positive change and nurturing nature in any way we can. Fresh, clean unpolluted air and fresh, clean oceans for all life big and small!

We believe the sum of many little positive actions will make for great change.

Being an Advanced Eco Certified product for many years we have numerous small interventions to reduce our energy and waste consumption and pre-COVID had plans for more little positive actions for cleaner energy avenues and returning to nature what was taken away. We have researched many avenues and it was important to us to ensure where we supported was doing the right thing, accountable and transparent. We are ecstatic that a couple of projects which were held back for a few years (no prizes for guessing why), now experiencing some more consistent return of income, will get back on track.

Being a tourism operation dependent on travellers we not only wanted to support regeneration projects in our own reef & rainforest community but also wanted to support projects across Australia to represent our interstate visitors we welcome on board our vessels throughout the year.

As we rebuild our tourism operations back to pre-COVID levels we have started this journey with a small donation to Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets – Australia Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor “It’s not just restoring biodiversity, but also boosting soil and water quality and supporting sustainable development” in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity corridor , creating a green corridor to link small patches of remaining vegetation and 12 nature reserves thereby helping to restore ecosystems ad preserve unique flora and fauna.

We are also involved with a great project  to purchase trees for a regeneration project in our very own back yard – the much loved Daintree. This project is operated by a passionate young man Barney Swan with  Climate Force. (refer statement below) , and very much fits in with our company philosophy of “Nurturing Nature”. As with many projects over the last challenging years, there were some delays, but they have now planted 3,000 trees since May 2022, all geo tagged and on an interactive dashboard. We are purchasing trees to plant in an area where the Rainforest meets the Reef which will be geo-tagged for us and all our guests to be able to see and also see the progress, challenges and successes of the project.

Climate Force is piloting Tropical Regen, a land management project in the world’s oldest rainforest, Daintree. Located in Far North Queensland, Australia we are working alongside traditional owners and the local community to restore 370 acres of wildlife corridor between mangroves and wet rainforest. Through the implementation of the project, we intend to produce a scalable blueprint for off-grid sustainable development ,which can be adopted worldwide.” Climate Force statement.
