Pinnacle Reef Part Of The Great Barrier Reef

Pinnacle Reef is a part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. World heritage listed for its outstanding natural values and diversity, the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem. It’s home to an abundance of marine life, including 600 types of hard and soft corals, over 1,500 species of fish and six of the world’s seven marine turtle species.

In fact, turtles are abundant at Pinnacle Reef due to its proximity to Green Island and its beds of sea grass. We often see Green and Hawksbill Turtles from the deck of Ocean Free and our guests enjoy swimming with them in the crystal-clear blue waters.

Other natural features of Pinnacle Reef include large beds of staghorn corals, interspersed with sandy beds and gutters which are scattered with colourful, giant clams and sometimes home to resting reef sharks. This underwater world, awaits your discovery.

Snorkelling Pinnacle Reef

Ocean Free’s guests can snorkel Pinnacle Reef, by stepping directly off the boat. We provide guided snorkel tours each day, but you also have the freedom to jump in and explore the reef whenever you want. All snorkelling equipment is provided and the day is your own.
